# Paraguay

Company data from the Paraguay business register, through the Topograph API.

## Overview

Topograph reads Paraguay National Directorate of Tax Revenue (DNIT) and Paraguay Register of Legal Persons and Beneficial Owners (DGPEJBF) and returns the company profile of Paraguay companies through one API.

> **Warning**
> **Paraguay is prefill-only.** Every request must pass `"mode": "prefill"`. The country is served from the tax authority’s published RUC list, a non-authoritative source, so there is no lane for `verification` (which is what `/v2/company` uses when you omit `mode`). A request without it comes back with the datapoint failed and the error code `authoritative_source_unavailable`. See [Modes](https://docs.topograph.co/essentials/modes).

Search by name or RUC. The RUC is the identifier to use with company requests: 8 digits beginning with 80, without the check digit (`80099554`). The RUC with its check digit (`80099554-6`) is accepted too.

Coverage is every legal entity registered with the tax authority: about 174,000, of which about 99,000 have an active tax registration. Natural persons and sole traders are not covered.

The company profile gives the legal name, RUC with its check digit, previous RUC, legal form and the status of the tax registration. No address, officers or owners.

The registers this country’s data comes from. Secondary sources only enrich or check what the registers return.

- **[Paraguay National Directorate of Tax Revenue (DNIT)](https://www.dnit.gov.py/web/portal-institucional/listado-de-ruc-con-sus-equivalencias)**: The Dirección Nacional de Ingresos Tributarios, Paraguay’s tax authority, issues the RUC that identifies every Paraguayan legal entity. It publishes the list of every taxpayer it has registered: name, RUC with its check digit, previous RUC and the status of the tax registration. The list is republished periodically.
- **[Paraguay Register of Legal Persons and Beneficial Owners (DGPEJBF)](https://datos.abogacia.gov.py)**: The Directorate General of Legal Persons and Structures and Beneficial Owners, part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, keeps the administrative register of legal persons and structures created by Law 6446/2019. Its open data portal publishes the RUC, name and entity type of every entity that has filed with it. Partners, directors and beneficial owners are open only to public authorities and to the reporting entities the anti-money-laundering authority designates.

## Identifiers

Request a company by its RUC (Registro Único del Contribuyente) as the `id`, with `countryCode` set to `PY`. Its format, validation rules and an example value are in the full reference.
