BetaCompany data from the Washington DC business register, through the Topograph API.
Topograph reads DC DLCP, Business and Professional Licensing Administration and returns the company profile, legal representatives and other key persons of Washington DC companies through one API.
What comes back for each datapoint and document, as on the coverage matrix.
Requests run in prefill mode (fast) or verification mode (the authoritative register answer).
Comes back in Verify.
A company profile typically comes back from the register in 1 s in prefill mode and 7 s in verification mode.
These are typical observations, not a service-level commitment: set your timeouts well above them.

Official District of Columbia business entity register maintained by the Business and Professional Licensing Administration (BPLA) of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP). Covers ~505k domestic and foreign corporations, LLCs, partnerships, cooperatives, statutory trusts, and non-profits registered under DC law. Each entity is assigned a DC file number as its primary identifier: purely numeric for older entities (e.g. 571294), a letter followed by digits for many others (e.g. L00005531281), and a US-DC- prefix for recently registered ones (e.g. US-DC-LL082600020). Topograph exposes two complementary integrations: a daily open-data CSV extract published by DLCP at opendata.dc.gov (CC BY 4.0) for fast prefill lookups, and the public register API behind the Business and Occupational Service System (BOSS, boss.dc.gov) for live authoritative lookups including the full roster of people on file and the Trade Register Extract. BOSS replaced the CorpOnline portal in August 2026.
